Keep an hours log in a plain text file and let Vim add it up.
One line per date, one or more time ranges, an optional job tag and a note:
2026-10-26 07:00-11:30 framing north wall
2026-10-27 07:00-11:30, 12:00-15:30 [job:A12] pour slab
Commands:
:TimesheetTotals insert or refresh a totals block: hours per day, per ISO week (Monday to Sunday), regular hours and overtime over 40 hours a week (federal FLSA rule, 29 U.S.C. 207)
:TimesheetExportCSV write date,start,end,hours,week,regular,overtime,job,note, one row per time range
:TimesheetCheck quickfix list of overlaps, end before start, invalid dates or times, ranges over 16 hours
Options: g:timesheet_round_minutes (0, 6 or 15) and g:timesheet_daily_ot (daily overtime threshold, off by default; state rules such as California daily overtime are your call, this is not legal advice).
Vim script only, Vim 8.2 or later (tested on 9.1), no dependency, no network access. 20 automated tests. :help timesheet
The CSV export imports into the free spreadsheets at https://tabletemplates.com/free/comp-time-tracking-spreadsheet/ . For Davis-Bacon crews, daily straight-time and overtime hours are what column 4 of Form WH-347 asks for: https://tabletemplates.com/certified-payroll-software/ .

| install details |
| Unzip into ~/.vim (Windows: ~/vimfiles) so that plugin/, autoload/, doc/, ftdetect/ and syntax/ land in place, then run :helptags ~/.vim/doc . With a plugin manager, point it at the unzipped folder. Files ending in .timesheet get syntax highlighting; the commands work in any buffer. |
